Lubbock hit a trifecta this weekend.

I Heart Lubbock

I love Lubbock. After all of these years it just feels like home. I like the excitement, aromas and energy of Texas Tech game day. I always look forward to the St. Joseph's Sausage Festival and the Lion's Club Pancake breakfast. I love hometown restaurants like Jimenez y Friends and The Breakfast House. I also love a good rock show out at the Amphitheater.  Even with all of these wonderful memories, nothing says "Lubbock" like people driving into things.

We Have  A Problem

I don't know what it is, but people in Lubbock tend to drive into large objects on a regular basis. I guess to be more accurate I should say that people in Lubbock crash into large objects on a regular basis. Luckily most of these incidents have only resulted in minor injuries or a lesson taught to the driver, so we can make light of them. I've heard more than one person say that we should actually say we should hang up a sign on the edge of town that says, "It's been______days since someone ran into a house".

Wrecks x 3!

So how about that trifecta this weekend? Without getting too much into the details, it all started with someone running into an apartment building. Wow! It may just be my personal opinion, but those are generally large and easy to miss. Then there was a hit a run and a short chase with a local person who hit five cars before crashing into a fence. Finishing it up,  I received a phone alert on Sunday that there was road detour because someone ran over a fire hydrant.

One Note

I guess I can't comment on whatever tomfoolery led to the first two incidents, but the last one was someone who was running from the police. May I say that in 40 years of telling stories like this, I've never had one that said, "...and the culprit got away!". It always ends with a crash and arrest, so don't ever try.

And More

Also, before I could even publish this, there was a FOURTH incident on Monday (making it a long weekend) featuring a car that ran threw a golf course, narrowly missed a tree and crashed into a brick planter/wall.
