I’m Putting My Texas Tech Bowl Prediction Where My Mouth Is

Texas Tech football has suffered 5 straight losing seasons. The 2017 season saw the Red Raiders go bowling, but a loss against USF ended the year at 6-7. The last two seasons have been the worst of the bunch only mustering 4 wins out of 12 in 2019 and 4 out of 10 in 2020.

All of that being said, Texas Tech will go bowling in 2021 or I'll be recreating the video below that includes ghost peppers, hot sauces, wasabi, and absurd stupidity.

It's not the first time I've mixed sports and spice. I've eaten the one chip challenge while making hot takes, I've also done the death nut challenge, eaten the world's hottest chocolate bar, and ate satan's toenail all while discussing various sports topics.

That being said, I'm fairly confident that I won't have to put myself through the pain of recreating that video because the Red Raiders will be playing in a Bowl Game come December.

The road schedule will be a tough slate with both Texas and Oklahoma away from the friendly confines of Jones Stadium. There are only five true road games on the schedule with the opener against Houston a "neutral site" game at NRG Stadium. The remaining road games of Kansas, West Virginia, and Baylor are all winnable too, in various degrees of interpretation.

The home schedule also shakes out for some success for Texas Tech. Obviously, the home opener against SFA and the next home contest against Florida International are in pencil as wins during the preseason. That leaves TCU, Kansas State, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State.

My thought is that Texas Tech opens 3-0. Then in the remaining games at home get to 2-2, with a gigantic win for the program over Iowa State. The road schedule sees some daylight too, with wins against Kansas and either West Virginia and Baylor.

That shakes out to a 7-5 record and a milkshake after the season is enjoyed instead of chugged after eating a flaming pile of spicy foods.
