New information has been released concerning a shooting that happened at the Hilltop Apartments in Lubbock the night of Monday, July 12th, 2021.

Lubbock police say that it all began with an argument between a mother and a father at the complex, located at 2105 East 4th Street. It's said that the mother was getting upset and told the child's paternal grandmother something along the lines of "you better get your son because my brothers are coming."

KAMC News reports that soon after, three people showed up. Reports didn't indicate if these were the aforementioned brothers. An argument ensued, and it quickly escalated into a physical altercation. During this fight, witnesses at the scene say that they heard gunshots, then saw the victim, who was later identified as Akkini McDade, crawling away from the scene covered in blood.

From the time the incident happened until EMS arrived a little bit after 10:10 p.m., family members were reportedly applying pressure to the victim's chest.

McDade and one other unidentified person were transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock. It's said that two other people fled the scene and have yet to be located by police. The identities of those who fled is currently unknown.

The current conditions of those involved has not been made explicitly clear.
