Detroit Red Wings Score Four Unanswered Goals in Win Over Dallas Stars
The back-end of a Midwestern back-to-back wasn’t kind to the Dallas Stars last night. The Detroit Red Wings scored 4 unanswered goals over the second and third periods to beat the Stars 4-1 at Joe Louis Arena.
The Stars scored the first goal of the game halfway through the second period. Loui Eriksson scored on a rebound from a Cody Eakin shot. Jaromir Jagr garnered the other assist on Eriksson's goal.
The Red Wings then tied the game three minutes later with Valtteri Filppula's first of his two goals in the win.
Penalties then hurt the Stars at the end of the second period. Jamie Benn got called for a double-minor for high-sticking with 3:41 left in the period. The Stars were able to get through the first two minutes of the double-minor, but Henrik Zetterberg scored on a slapshot with 24 seconds left. That gave the Red Wings the lead for the rest of the game.
The Stars are now in 4th place in the Pacific Division.
