Denver City Man Killed in Head-On Collision in New Mexico
Over the weekend, two Denver City High School siblings were involved in a fatal car accident in eastern New Mexico.
New Mexico State Police identified the victim as 19 year-old Fabian Mendoza. Police say Mendoza was driving a vehicle that crossed into another lane of traffic on U.S. 62/180 and collided head-on with a pickup truck southeast of Hobbs on Saturday (Sept. 8).
Mendoza was taken to a Lea County hospital where he later died of his injuries, whereas his sister, who is a minor, is in critical but stable condition at a Lubbock hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
