Davide Moretti Gets Contract Offer From Professional Team
The Red Raider roster seems to be set. If Witchita State transfer Jamarius Burton redshirts as planned, then Nimari Burnett, Davide Moretti, Kyler Edwards, Kevin McCullar and Clarence Nadolny will man the guard spots. Avery Benson will serve his role. At the forwards, we will see Terrence Shannon Jr., Tyreek Smith, Joel Ntambwe, Chibuzo Agbo, Micah Peavy, Esahi Nyiwe and Marcus Santos-Silva.
That's a full 13 scholarships and a redshirt.
After the weekend though there might be more roster changes on the horizon with Davide Moretti getting a contract offer from Italian powerhouse Olimpia Milano.
Olimpia Milano, also known as AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan after its title sponsor, is an LBA Italian professional basketball team, based in Milan, Italy who have won three of the last six LBA Championships. Moretti is from Bologna, Italy and his father is a head coach of OriOra Pistoia in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A.
In three years as a Red Raider, Moretti has averaged 9.1 points per game and shot 39.9 percent from 3-point range. In the 2019-20 season, he averaged a career high 13 points per game and was the second leading scorer on the team behind Jahmi'us Ramsey.
The flipside of Moretti's potential departure is that there is growing steam that the brother of Ntambwe, and number one prospect in the nation, Jonathon Kuminga is trying to reclassify to the 2020 class.
His options are truly limitless if he does reclassify, but the G League, Auburn, Duke and Texas Tech seem to be the top four options at this moment. If Moretti does head to Italy for good, Kuminga could slot in the scholarship spot and move Texas tech's ninth nationally ranked class into the top five.
