NHL's Dallas Stars have signed player Jamie Benn to a five-year deal worth $26.25 million.

The deal, which was reached last night, states that Benn will get $5.25 million each season eventhough the first year of the deal will be prorated due to the NHL lockout.  Benn had 26 goals, 37 assists and 63 points for the Stars last season.

During the NHL lockout, Benn played for the Hamburg Freezers in Germany.  He had seven goals and 20 points in 19 games for the Freezers before leaving for British Columbia last month.

Benn is expected to be in uniform when the Dallas Stars take on the St. Louis Blues at home on Saturday.  Puck drop is scheduled for 7 pm.
