Update: One person was injured Friday night, May 11, when a truck was nearly driven into a Lubbock home.

According to police, the accident occurred just before 9 p.m. on Friday at 40th Street and Avenue T.

Twenty-two-year-old Christian Antonio Diaz was arrested at the scene for losing control of his Chevy pickup. He crashed through the brick and metal fence of a residence and also struck the house itself.

Witnesses to the accident are said to have held Diaz at the scene until police could arrive. One person was reportedly injured as a result of the crash.

It's reported that Diaz appeared sick, sleepy, and likely intoxicated during his questioning by Lubbock police. Diaz even refused to take a field sobriety test. Police were was able to obtain a warrant for a blood test to check Diaz's alcohol levels. He was reportedly taken to University Medical Center in order to take the test.

Diaz was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center with a $1,500 bond. So far, he faces charges of a DWI and driving without insurance.


Original story: Late Friday night (May 11), a truck crashed through a home's fence in Lubbock, striking one person who was standing in the yard.

An employee of KFYO News owner Townsquare Media captured video of the crash's aftermath, which you can see above. Several emergency personnel are seen, including police and the fire department.

According to a witness, after the truck crashed through the fence at a home on 40th Street near Avenue T and struck a person, the driver got out of the vehicle and fled the scene. Police reportedly later apprehended that person.

As of the publication of this story, it's unknown if the person who was struck by the truck was taken to the hospital, or what the driver was charged with.
