Cowboys Sign Safety Sensabaugh to 5-year Extension
The Dallas Cowboys have locked-up starting safety Gerald Sensabaugh to a five-year extension Friday, meaning he won’t become a free agent for a third straight off-season.
The team did not release terms of the deal.
Sensabaugh has been a key cog of the Cowboys defense this season, ranking second with 63 team-credited tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
It’s the first multiyear deal with the Cowboys for the seventh-year pro, who has inked one-year deals with Dallas each of the past two seasons.
A fifth-round pick by Jacksonville in 2005, Sensabaugh spent his first four seasons with the Jaguars before coming to Dallas. He had a career-high five interceptions last season.
Also on Friday, the Cowboys placed running back Phillip Tanner on season-ending injured reserve with a hamstring injury. Receiver Andre Holmes was activated from the practice squad to fill Tanner's roster spot.
