Texas Tech senior cornerback Cornelius Douglas was named the Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week Wednesday, just two days after earning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Douglas helped anchor a stellar effort from the Red Raiders defense in Texas Tech’s 24-13 win over Iowa State in Ames Saturday.

He led Texas Tech with two interceptions, one of which set up the Red Raiders game clinching score in the fourth quarter. The Tech defense limited the Cyclones to just 189 yards of total offense.

Douglas is the first Red Raider to grab two interceptions in a game since DJ Johnson did so in last year's Big 12 opener at Kansas.

Texas Tech returns home to Jones AT&T Stadium this Saturday for a 2:30 kickoff against the Oklahoma Sooners.
