Beginning Thursday (June 8), construction throughout the city of Lubbock will cause temporary street closures overnight.

Micro-Surfacing will be applied to major streets in Lubbock. Micro-Surfacing is the process of mixing asphalt with crushed stone and that mixture being laid over the top of the road as a protective coat to increase traction.

The construction will occur between 7 p.m.- 7 a.m., and the streets affected will be:

  • 98th Street from Quaker Avenue to Slide Road
  • 50th Street from I-27 to Avenue Q
  • 50th Street from University Avenue to Quaker Avenue
  • 34th Street from Marsha Sharp Freeway to West Loop 289

According to the city, construction will take approximately 2 to 3 weeks to complete.
