Coming in Hot: Check Out Lubbock’s 4th of July Holiday Weekend Forecast
Lubbock's holiday forecast is coming in sunny and hot. Here's a look at exactly what to expect each day of this patriotic weekend.
Saturday, July 2nd
Low temperatures on Saturday will start out in the low 70s with the highs reaching into the mid-90s. Sunshine will remain abundant, so make sure to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated.
Sunday, July 3rd
Sunday will be just slightly cooler with our highs only reaching into the low 90s, but it will be another sunny and hot day across the South Plains. This will make for perfect conditions if you want to head out to a patio or Buffalo Springs Lake.
Monday, July 4th
Your Independence Day is looking sunny and hot with highs back in the mid to upper 90s. If you plan to attend Lubbock’s 32nd Annual 4th on Broadway parade, temperatures will be at a very comfortable 77 degrees right at 9 a.m. for the start of the festivities.
Lunchtime temperatures will increase quickly into the upper 80s and low 90s, which means that whether you are heading to a concert stage, the Cabela’s Fishing Tournament or one of the many kids areas, it's important to stay sun safe.
Afternoon highs will peak in the mid-90s by 5 p.m. and these toasty temperatures will stick around until the fireworks begin at 10 p.m. At this time, temperatures will dip back into the upper 80s. Of course, we want everyone to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated and take breaks indoors during those peak heating hours, but also take the time to apply bug spray. In spite of our lack of rain this year, if you plan to be at Mackenzie Park you'll be next to the water, which means mosquitos are expected.
Additionally, we don't want to forget our furry friends. They need lots of air conditioning and water throughout the day, and if you plan to take them to the parade, make sure to bring a towel or yoga mat for them to sit on. The pavement will get hot quickly.
