Both Texas Tech Basketball Programs Shuffle Games Amid COVID-19 Cases
For the 3rd week in a row, Texas Tech Red Raider basketball was ranked Number 25 in the AP Top 25 Poll for men’s college basketball. The Red Raiders are 9-2 on the season after beating Eastern Washington last week. They’ll face Alabama State tomorrow, but their Big 12 opener will have to wait after COVID-19 cases within the Oklahoma State Program.
Texas Tech will now open their Big 12 slate against Iowa State at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa on January 5th. The Cyclones are currently ranked 8th in the country after enjoying a 12-0 start to their season, which nobody saw coming. The Cyclones open their Big 12 slate against number one Baylor on New Years Day.
Texas Tech basketball will then play two other top ten teams in Kansas and Baylor before that rescheduled Oklahoma State Cowboys game on the 13th of January.
The Lady Raider basketball game against Incarnate Word that was scheduled for this Wednesday has been canceled. A Texas Tech official says that the Lady Raiders were dealing with COVID-19. The Lady Raiders are currently 7-4 on the season, having not yet played a conference game. Both programs will look to reschedule the contest in the future.
The Lady Raiders will now enjoy some time off before opening conference play against Oklahoma on January 2nd in the friendly confines of the United Supermarkets Arena.
