The Texas Tech pair in Barret Barnes and Jamodrick McGruder were selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region team based on both players stellar performance throughout the season. It is also the first time since 2004 that Texas Tech has had two players selected to the ABCA All-Region team.

Both players recently signed major league contracts, Barnes with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and McGruder with the Seatlle Mariners.

With Barnes selection by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the 45th overall pick makes him the third highest pick in Texas Tech history. While at Texas Tech Barnes was also a 3 time all Big 12 selection.

McGruder saw similar success at Texas Tech, leading the Big 12 in numerous offensive categories. McGruder finished the season batting .358, with 54 runs, six doubles, eight triples, and 27 RBI.

The selection to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region team caps an excellent career for both players at Texas Tech.
