Update: A suspect in an attempted armed robbery turned fatal shooting is now in custody.

Lubbock Police Department Public Information Officer Kasie Davis said Thursday afternoon that 18-year-old Damion Moore was apprehended in the 4600 block of North Frankford Ave. by officers with the department's Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit and the Texas Anti-Gang Center.

Moore allegedly accompanied 19-year-old Jaden Brown to purchase a video game console in a private transaction at University Pointe Apartments. Instead of buying the game system, however, the pair allegedly tried to steal it from the owner, Jose Seguin, at gunpoint. Instead, Seguin pulled out his own firearm and opened fire. Brown was struck and died at the scene. It's unclear if Moore was injured, though LPD did not mention that he received medical aid after his arrest.

Original story: Lubbock police officers were called to the University Pointe Apartments in Central Lubbock on the morning of May 19th, Thursday, shortly before 3 a.m. There they discovered the body of 19-year-old Jaden Brown, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lubbock Police Department's Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit, which is conducting the investigation, says that Brown traveled to the apartments, located in the 2300 block of Glenna Goodacre Blvd., with another suspect who is currently unknown around 10 p.m. on May 18th.

Lubbock police say that Brown and the unknown suspect attempted to rob 20-year-old Jose Seguin at gunpoint. During the aggravated robbery, Seguin began firing his weapon in the direction of Brown and the unknown suspect. Brown was struck by the gunfire.

As of the time of this article's publication, no other injuries have been reported, and the investigation through Lubbock Police Department's Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is on-going.
