Broderick Washington was selected by the Baltimore Ravens 170th overall in the 5th round of the 2020 NFL draft. Now, he's the first NFL Rookie to be officially signed by his team as the former Red Raider has agreed to terms with the Ravens on a four-year contract.

Washington was a team captain for his last two seasons as a Red Raider and was continually praised as a leader on the Red Raider team. The improvement in the run defense for Texas Tech this season had a lot to do with Broderick Washington and his change in position. It's also a reason why the Ravens drafted him. He showed versatility and will be able to play in multiple fronts like the Ravens use.

Washington had 94 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss, 6.5 sacks, 2 pass deflections, and one fumble recovery over the span of his college career. He joins teammate Jordyn Brooks as the only other Red Raiders who came off the board.

The NFL Draft pundits raved about the Ravens draft after it was completed with one NFL.com pundit saying, "Washington is an active nose tackle who will be effective in a rotation." Across the board, it was the Ravens, Cowboys and Vikings who graded out as having the best drafts.
