69 Texas Tech Football Players Have Recovered From COVID-19 Since June
The Texas Tech Athletic Department began testing football players for COVID-19 in June. Since then, 75 members of the team have tested positive for the virus, according to Texas Tech.
As of September 15th, there were six active cases in the program, which means 69 student-athletes have recovered. In addition, there have been five staff members who've contracted the virus. They all have since recovered. The football team is responsible for 75 of the 116 total positive cases among all Texas Tech student-athletes.
The Red Raiders were without a few players that were listed on the two-deep against Houston Baptist, but the school did not say their absence was for virus-related reasons.
To me, this explains a little about how confused the defense was at points this weekend. If, through contact tracing and positive tests, the secondary missed a large chunk of practice time, then it makes sense why the secondary looked so lost against the Huskies.
Having six positive cases and 69 recoveries sounds like a positive to me, but the national media had the opposite reaction to the news.
I guess you can't please everyone.
