The last time Texas Tech and Nevada was in 2008 and the Red Raiders prevailed 35-19 over a rising Wolf Pack program in Reno, NV.

Since that game both teams reached unprecedented heights with Texas Tech going to No. 2 in 2008 and Nevada finishing 13-1 last season with a WAC Championship and a big victory over Boise State in late November.

On offense for the Wolf Pack, they must replace one of the best backfields ever assembled in NCAA history in QB Colin Kaepernick and RB Vai Taua led the nations best rushing attack the previous two seasons and look to replace them with Sr. Tyler Lantrip at QB and RB Mike Ball. Nevada will still run the Pistol offense, but it won't be the same. Look for them to struggle in the West Texas heat.

Defensively, Nevada will struggle with pass defense as they have the past 5 seasons under Head Coach Chris Ault. Yes, last season the Pack had big improvements getting the stops they needed to give the offense a chance to win the game, but don't look for this defense to carry the team with the first four games of the season on the road.

Texas Tech should boat race the Wolf Pack and go to 3-0 on the season before heading into the Kanas game in Lawrence on October 1st.

OBSCENELY EARLY PREDICTION

Texas Tech 38- Nevada 20
