#18 Texas Tech Takes Down #10 Kansas For First Win At Allen Fieldhouse
Fresh off of their win against the Baylor Bears and moving up to number 18 in the nation, the Texas Tech Red Raiders were about to face arguably their toughest test so far this season when they went on the road to take on the #10 Kansas Jayhawks. The Red Raiders had never won at Allen Fieldhouse but they changed all of that with a convincing win over the Jayhawks 85-73.
The Red Raiders kicked off the game with a three pointer from Keenan Evans to take a quick 3-0 lead, and that would be the closest Kansas would ever come to Tech for the rest of the game. Tech played a complete game, executed when they needed to and never let the Jayhawk crowd phase them.
Just like in the Baylor game, the Red Raiders crashed the boards hard and had multiple second chances in the game. Tech grabbed 44 total rebounds in the game with 18 of them coming on the offensive side. Kansas committed 15 turnovers which resulted in Texas Tech scoring 26 points off of those turnovers giving Tech their first ever win at Allen Fieldhouse, and when its your first win somewhere you just feel the need to celebrate.
Their were five players for Tech who finished in double figures including Norense Odiase who had one of his best games this season as he finished with 8 rebounds and 12 points. Keenan Evans was the leading scorer as he finished with 15 points and only missing one of his eight free throws. Justin Gray finished with 12 points and the two freshmen, Zhaire Smith and Jarrett Culver also finished with double figures as well as some big minutes in the win.
That win brings the Red Raiders record to 2-0 in conference play and 13-1 overall. Coming up next for the Red Raiders is a matchup against the Kansas State Wildcats (11-3) (1-1) at home on Saturday. Every game is a big one, especially in this stacked Big 12 Conference, so make sure to head down to the USA on Saturday to support the men's team.
