Following a shooting incident that happened at the South Plains Mall on Sunday, December 19th, a 15-year-old male has been taken into custody.

As previously reported by KFYO, Lubbock Police responded to the incident at 5:35 p.m. On arrival, officers and mall security were able to evacuate all of the stores and building.

Police eventually determined that the shots were fired in a common area of the building between Dillard's and Premiere Cinemas. It's believed the shooting happened because of a dispute between 2 juveniles that knew each other. Lubbock Police called this shooting an "isolated incident."

2 people suffered minor injuries during this incident. One person suffered a graze wound from one of the bullets fired, and the other was injured while they were leaving. Both victims were treated and released on scene.

The 15-year-old, whose identity has not been publicly released, was taken into custody at around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, December 20th in the 6600 block of Avenue U. The juvenile was charged with aggravated assault and booked into the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center.
