On Saturday, 1 person was killed and 8 others were injured in a 2-vehicle crash in Parmer County.

According to KAMC News, the crash happened just after 4 a.m. on US Highway 60, roughly 4-and-a-half miles west of Friona. A charter bus was traveling east on the highway while a passenger car was traveling west.

The passenger car allegedly failed to yield the right of way at the highway crossover while attempting to turn into Cargill meat Solutions, causing the front of the bus to collide into the right passenger side of the car.

The driver of the passenger car, 48-year-old Socorro Gallego of Friona was taken to Parmer Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the bus was uninjured but 8 of the 39 passengers suffered minor injuries.
