During a press conference at Jones AT&T Stadium on Tuesday, October 29th, Texas Tech announced a new marketing partnership with United Supermarkets.

United Supermarkets has been named the Official Supermarket of Red Raider Athletics, as well as the Texas Tech Alumni Association.

This new partnership continues a long relationship that's existed between the school and United Supermarkets.

United provided Texas Tech with a $10 million investment that boosted fundraising efforts for the United Spirit Arena back in 1996. The original naming right agreement was extended by 10 years in 2014 as part of a $9.45 million deal. That was when the arena's name was changed to the United Supermarkets Arena.

United Supermarkets has also provided more than $5 million in scholarship endowments to Texas Tech and the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, according to a TTU press release.

Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt had this to say about the new deal:

United Supermarkets has been a longtime supporter of Texas Tech, and we are excited to enter into a great marketing partnership with such an outstanding organization. [...] When Texas Tech needed the financial backing to build a state-of-the-art basketball arena, United Supermarkets was there to provide the necessary support. We appreciate United for stepping up again for Texas Tech Athletics with this new level of commitment.
