United Family Donates 1,000 Pairs of Socks To Salvation Army
The United Family is once again stepping up to help the Lubbock community. On Tuesday it was announced that The United Family would be donating 1,000 pairs of socks to the Salvation Army of Lubbock.
The donation comes from a program called "Pears for Pairs". During the time span of October to December of 2020, a portion of the proceeds from the purchase of Rainier pears went to purchasing socks that The United Family could donate to organizations in Lubbock and throughout Texas that support the homeless population.
According to a press release, this is the second year that The United Family has made the donation of socks to the Salvation Army of Lubbock. According to The United Family, a new pair of socks can go a long way.
“For some, a new pair of socks can make a world of difference,” said Joseph Bunting, produce business director for the United Family. “That’s why we are so grateful to once again partner with Rainer Fruits to do this program. We are also thankful to our guests for participating and helping us raise the funds for the socks.”
The Salvation Army of Lubbock won't be the only organization benefitting from The United Family. According to the press release, United Family guests and Rainier Fruit will be donating 5,000 pairs of socks to organizations across the state of Texas.
The Salvation Army locations in Amarillo, Midland and Odessa, Abilene, and Faith Mission of Wichita Falls will all receive socks.
