Two Brothers Arrested in Lubbock After Old-Fashioned Bar Brawl
Both Jonathan and Ruben Garza were arrested on Friday night, May 14th, after provoking a bar brawl just after 1:30 a.m.
The two brothers were causing a ruckus at The Office Bar and Grill when a Lubbock Constable who was working security escorted Jonathan out of the bar. As the constable led Jonathan out, his brother Ruben got rowdy inside, provoking other customers and starting a fight. Jonathan saw the new fight break out and pushed the constable to the ground to get back into the action.
The constable suffered a hand injury due to the push, according to the police report obtained by everythinglubbock.com.
The constable told Jonathan he was under arrest, but he ignored the constable and drove away in his vehicle. He was later pulled over and arrested by a Lubbock County Sherriff's Deputy who was in the area. Ruben was arrested on-site and smelled of alcohol, according to the report.
Jonathan was charged with assault on a peace officer, and Ruben was charged with public intoxication. Neither Jonathan nor Ruben Garza were on the jail roster at the time of this article being published.
I'm not advocating brawling in a bar or getting drunk in public, but when we see so many news stories about families fighting each other or assaulting each other with hot irons, it's nice to see a pair of brothers in Lubbock who have each other's backs. Again, they probably shouldn't be getting into bar fights and ignoring the police while they drive off after a night of drinking, but other than that, what a heartwarming story.
