Trump Calls On Abbott To Add Election Audit To Special Session
Former President Donald Trump on Thursday called for Texas Governor Greg Abbott to add an item to the third special session that is currently underway in Austin.
In the letter from the former President, Trump called on Abbott to add an election audit bill to the current session. In the letter, Trump said that "Texans have big questions about the November 2020 Elections." Of course Trump won Texas easily, but the former President is putting pressure on the Governor to act on an audit that has been supported by some Republican lawmakers in the Texas Legislature.
According to The Hill, Trump wrote that "despite my big win in Texas, I hear Texans want an election audit!" The former President also wrote that the third session would be the perfect time to pass such a bill.
“Despite my big win in Texas, I hear Texans want an election audit! You know your fellow Texans have big questions about the November 2020 Election,” Trump said.
“Texas needs you to act now. Your Third Special Session is the perfect, and maybe last, opportunity to pass this audit bill,” he added. “Texans know voting fraud occurred in some of their counties. Let's get to the bottom of the 2020 Presidential Election Scam!”
Texas isn't the first state that former President Donald Trump has reached out to regarding an audit. He has called for other states like Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan to audit their elections. Texas is the first state that Trump won where he has called for an audit.
No word from the Governor's office on if he plans to add it to the third special session.
