This Week Is a Palindrome Week, But What Does That Mean?
All week we are celebrating palindrome week. Why? What is a palindrome? Will there be beer or cake? All of those answers and more are here for you.
A Palindrome is a word or sentence that reads the same backwards and forwards. Here are some examples.
- Mom
- Dad
- Racecar
- A butt tuba
- A man a plan a canal Panama
Now that we know what palindromes are and can stump our friends with them at the bar, what exactly is palindrome week?
Palindrome week is a week where you can read the dates, numerically, the same backwards or forwards. Since it is the 17th year of the century, and the 7th month, during the week where every day starts with a 1, it is a palindrome week. Try it for yourself.
7-10-17 (July 7, 2017) is the same backwards: 7-10-17. Try it for every day until the 19th.
It will also happen next year in August, in 2019 during September, 2020 during February and more.
Now, wasn't that a fantastic waste of time?
