The 2018 Texas Rangers Winter Caravan will be traveling into Lubbock on Thursday, January 25, to present a grant to Artesia Little League from Artesia, New Mexico. The funds will be used to help replace scoreboards and flagpoles.

The three Ranger representatives that will be in the hub city are, pitcher Keone Kela, bench coach Don Wakamatsu, and Fox Sports Southwest Rangers broadcaster Emily Jones.

 

Here is when and where you find the Ranger Winter Caravan

10:45-11:15 a.m. — MEDIA AVAILABILITY at Lubbock Memorial Center, 1501 Mac Davis Lane, Lubbock, TX 79401. Availability to take place in the Civic Center Hospitality Suite on the main floor by the ticket booth

11:15 a.m. -1:00 p.m. — College Baseball Hall of Fame First Pitch Luncheon, 1501 Mac Davis Lane, Lubbock, TX 79401

12:40-12:55 p.m. Rangers segment of the First Pitch Luncheon and Grant Presentation for Artesia Little League Baseball

Keone Kela is in his 7th season with the Texas Rangers. The 24-year-old started the season in Triple A and had a few stints on the DL but finished last season with a 4-1 record with a 2.79 ERA and 3 saves in just 39 games.

Don Wakamatsu is in his second coaching stint for the Rangers. His first stint was from 2003 to 2007 where he served as the bench coach and as the 3rd base coach. He also served as a bench coach in the back to back years that the Kansas City Royals made the World Series.

Emily Jones will be making her return to Lubbock when the caravan comes through. The Plainview native has been a part of the Rangers’ television broadcasts since 2007 and previously was a news reporter and sports director at KCBD-TV during her time in Lubbock.
