Halloween is around the corner, and you may have noticed that some of your neighbors have teal pumpkins. The teal pumpkin is not the latest in home trends, but instead a sign to parents and kids on Halloween that the participating home is giving away treats that won't hurt kids with food allergies.

Brenda Duby with United Supermarkets joined me today to discuss how Market Street is involved in the Teal Pumpkin Project that was launched in 2014.

Duby said all you have to do is place a teal-colored pumpkin on your porch. Market Street locations have kits available for you to paint your pumpkin teal, as well as teal pumpkins. The stores will also have items such as stickers and toys that you can hand out, plus treats that don’t have food allergens.

Duby also said that the teal pumpkins will be located near the front of Market Street stores.

Watch the video above for more details and to find out what food allergies kids may have.
