The Last Bell Tolls for Retail Giant Bealls in Lubbock
The retail giant Bealls will be undergoing a name change to Gordmans here in Lubbock sometime next year, according to employees at both local stores.
Gordmans is a popular Houston-based retail department store owned by Stage Stores, which also owns several department stores, including Bealls.
It's sad to see the iconic Bealls name going away in Lubbock. The good news, however, is that only the name will change.
According to two different Bealls employees, Lubbock shoppers should still be able to find much of what they've loved at Bealls in the past at the newly named stores. And right now, both Bealls locations (6002 Slide Road in the South Plains Mall, and 2705 50th Street) are also hosting a store-wide mega sale, with up to 40 percent off items.
Gordmans is an 'off-price' store with 158 stores in many mid-sized communities across the country, according to their website. You can visit the Gordmans website for more about what we can look forward to with the new name.
We've reached out to Stage's corporate office for more details and will keep you posted with new information as it becomes available.
