Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks put an end to a three game skid by beating the injury riddled Denver Nuggets 105-95. Vince Carter added 17 points for the Mavs. Shawn Marion and Rodrigue Beaubois each had 13 points for the Mavericks, who finally got a win against the Nuggets after being beaten by the Nuggets the last four times.

Nuggets coach George Karl told the Associated Press after the game that, "If you make a defensive mistake, they have a way of punishing you, I'm not saying we had a bad defensive game, but three or four times we're scrambling and we leave Dirk Nowitzki wide open. I don't understand that, but when you're frustrated and playing in a bad stretch those things happen. I just think it's the process of the season. We're banged up."

Things are beginning to take shape for the Mavericks as they begin to find more of an identity on offense with Dirk back healthy and key contributions from Vince Carter. The Mavs shot 44-90 on the night for a nearly 50% field goal percentage. A strange stat however is that they only shot 9 free throws on the night.

The Mavs are likely to continue to improve as the season goes on, which is good news for Mavs fans, as they must still make up for their slow start.
