The Dallas Cowboys Lose 27-7 to the San Diego Chargers on Thursday

The Dallas Cowboys didn't have the majority of their play makers on the field last night and it showed in their 27-7 loss to the San Diego Chargers in their preseason debut.  Dallas would score first on a pass from Brandon Weeden, a free agency acquisition in March after a disappointing stint as Cleveland’s starter, as he scrambled to his right, away from pressure and delivered a bullet to James Hanna just before taking a big hit.  That gave the Cowboys an early 7-0 lead, but San Diego would respond with 27 straight points and put the game away.

“We had a lot of guys that did not play, but next week we will get a better feel.  With the guys we had out there, it felt good, it felt fast,” head coach Jason Garrett said.  “They put a drive on us, but that's going to happen.  I felt like we dealt with it great and came up with a turnover at the end."

Defensively, Dallas struggled as they gave up 395 yards in the loss despite the fact that the Cowboys offense ran three more plays on Thursday than San Diego did.  The Chargers passing game gave Dallas trouble last night as they threw for 243 yards on just 14-16 pass attempts.

Jason Garrett and company will continue to prepare for the regular season that kicks off on September 7th.  They will take on the Baltimore Ravens on August 16th in their second preseason game of the 2014 season.
