The Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles are Tied Atop the NFC East
The Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles are both at this point struggling to say the least if one was to describe their seasons. Both sit at 3-3 but are coming off double digit victories and despite the teams .500 records, they are still in first place in the NFC East.
Dallas took down divisional foe the Washington Redskins by a score of 31-16, but not without some losses. Defensive lineman DeMarcus Ware will miss his first games of his career since arriving with the team as he is nursing a strained quad. His timetable to return is uncertain at this point. He wasn't the only one as starting running back DeMarco Murray also went down on Sunday. Murray would suffer a sprained MCL in his knee and will likely miss this week’s game as he could only manage seven carries for 29 yards, but did score his third touchdown of the season before leaving in the second quarter with that knee injury.
Philadelphia is coming off a nice win over Tampa Bay as they took down the Bucs 31-20. They did so with backup quarterback Nick Foles leading the huddle as veteran quarterback Michael Vick was out with a hamstring injury. As of right now it looks as if Foles with get the start this Sunday for their match up against Dallas. He will need to duplicate his efforts of this past Sunday if they want to take over first place in the division.
With two 3-3 teams in the Cowboys and Eagles, a 1-4 in the Redskins, and the lowly 0-6 Giants, the NFC East is arguably the worst division in the NFL. It is realistic to think that the winner of this group may be the team who can end up with at least a .500 record. One thing is for sure, the wildcard team will not be coming from the NFC East this year.
