Lubbock JCPenney Not on Initial List of Texas Store Closures
We reported last week on what could have been the end of the South Plains Mall location of JCPenney. Morningstar had compiled a list of stores that were considered endangered, including Lubbock’s JCPenney location.
Well, there's some good news. According to both our friends at The Consumerist and our local media partner Everything Lubbock, the Lubbock JCPenney store has been spared -- for now, anyway.
It seems that the Lubbock store was important enough to save.
Here's a complete list of the Texas locations where JCPenney stores will be going away forever:
Athens Village Shopping Center | Athens | TX |
Borger Shopping Plaza | Borger | TX |
Heartland Mall | Early | TX |
El Paso Downtown | El Paso | TX |
Marshall Mall | Marshall | TX |
McAllen Downtown | McAllen | TX |
University Mall | Nacogdoches | TX |
King Plaza Shopping Center | Seguin | TX |
Bosque River Center | Stephenville | TX |
Except for El Paso and McAllen, these stores are very small locations. So, for now, REJOICE! And get those JCPenney credit cards out and shop. If you'll excuse me, I have socks and underwear to buy.
