Texas Tech University is extending its free COVID-19 testing efforts for students, staff, and faculty members for at least two more months.
It was first reported in July 2020 that, in anticipation for the fall 2020 semester, Texas Tech would offer free drive-thru testing from August 3rd to August 24th, and that testing would be optional for students.
After August 24th, the free drive-thru clinic closed and symptomatic students had to acquire testing through Student Health Services. According to the Texas Tech website, students tested through Student Health Services would have their insurance provider billed, or they could self-pay for $40.
According to a press release dated Wednesday, Sept. 23rd, Texas Tech University is now extending free COVID-19 testing through at least December 9th, 2020 for its students, staff and faculty members.
Texas Tech’s COVID-19 testing site, currently set up at Urbanovsky Park on campus, will be closed Sept. 26th and relocated to the Texas Tech Museum, with testing efforts scheduled to resume there on Monday, Sept. 28th.
Once the testing site is reopened, operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday until Dec. 9th, 2020. Masks and social distancing measures will be strictly enforced at the testing site.
