Dimitri Moore played for Joey McGuire at Cedar Hill before going to Vanderbilt as a freshman. He ended up transferring to Missouri State before finding his way back to Joey McGuire at Texas Tech.

Krishon Merriweather was the leading tackler in the state of Missouri his senior season, but took the JUCO route out of high school.  A few years at Garden City CC prepared Merriweather to make the jump to Texas Tech. He's now in his third season as a Red Raider as a super senior.

Marquis Water enrolled at Duke in 2017 and played in 49 games as a Blue Devil before transferring to the Red Raiders last season. He missed Big 12 play in 2021 after an injury, so he's back for his super senior season as well.

All three of those guys were recruited and played their final season of high school football in 2017, and all of them have their last chance at college football this season. All three play on the defensive side of the ball, playing either linebacker or safety. They all transferred to Texas Tech after starting elsewhere.

All of those similarities on the field have seemingly bonded the trio, but those similarities don't end for the trio on the field. They also have formed a rap super group off the field.

Well, technically on the field with the bulk of their music video being recorded at The Jones.

Their debut single "Strap Up" shows off some skill from all three, with Moore, Waters and Merriweather dropping bars during the video.

Moore and Merriweather aren't the first Texas Tech linebackers to do a little rapping on the side. Seattle Seahawks linebacker and former Red Raider Jordyn Brooks free-styled for us during Texas Tech's 2019 football media day.

14 Examples of How Texas Tech Football Players can Make Their NIL Money

With the NCAA unlocking Athletes' ability to make money on their NIL, I'm stepping in to help match some Texas Tech football players to mostly local businesses. From Tyler Shough to Austin McNamara, everyone will have a chance to get their hands on a deal if they work it right.

I believe some of these deals are worked right. Here are my ideas.

12 Incredibly Bold Predictions For Texas Tech football

These might not happen, but it'd be pretty cool if they did.

Texas Tech Will Go 5-7 if the FPI is Correct

The ESPN FPI, or the Football Power Index, is a mathematical formula like they have in any other league. It claims to, "measure a team's true strength on net points scale; expected point margin vs average opponent on a neutral field." according to ESPN. The projected results are based on 20,000 simulations of the rest of the season using the FPI as a model. The preseason projections are incomplete because a large piece of the puzzle is results that have already happened, impacting the remaining schedule. So, based on half the puzzle, Texas Tech is projected to get wins in five of their games. These projections change daily once the season starts, but it's good to get a baseline on what is analytically expected of you heading into the season.
