The Texas Tech basketball team was good enough to beat Georgetown, but they didn't inspire a ton of confidence for a team that has struggled against good teams this season.

The Red Raiders were up by more than 20 points during the early stretch of the second half before Georgetown went on an 18-0 run to get the game close again, nearly tying the Red Raiders late in the contest. In the end, Texas Tech would stretch thier home winning streak at the United Supermarkets arena to 25 by closing the game with a 17-4 run of their own.

The final was 79-65.

Jaylon Tyson and De’Vion Harmon scored 18 points each and Daniel Batcho recorded his second career double-double with 15 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.  Kevin Obanor had for 11 points and Pop Isaacs added 10, with the most important maybe being the bucket that stopped the run of the Hoyas in the second half.

“We had to win the game twice,” said Texas Tech coach Mark Adams. “Home court gives them a lot of confidence. Give our fans a lot of credit. The game got really tight and they didn’t give up on us and started cheering and I think it really lifted our guys’ spirits and gave a little more confidence. I’m sure it’s had an adverse effect on our opponents, so a lot of credit to our fans and playing at home certainly makes a big difference.”
Tech returns to action against Nicholls on Wednesday, December 7 at the United Supermarkets Arena with a chance to stretch the streak to 26 games.
