The Texas Rangers have announced that two Tier 3 Texas Rangers employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

One of those individuals is radio announcer Matt Hicks. His broadcast partner, Eric Nadel, has elected to take the weekend off. The team is in San Francisco to start a series with the Giants.

The Rangers' radio broadcasters were set to call the game remotely from Arlington after working the past 10 days live during the homestand.

The Texas Rangers released a statement saying the team, "immediately began the protocols that the team has in place for positive COVID tests, and any person who had direct contact with these individuals was sent home and has undergone COVID19 testing. No individuals will be allowed back into the facility without receiving a negative COVID-19 test."

Neither Hicks nor the other employee has had any direct contact with players and haven't had access to the field level.

The Rangers also announced that the regular pre and post-game host Jared Sandler will handle the play-by-play duties for the Giants series, joined on the broadcasts by former Rangers David Murphy on Friday, and Mark McLemore for the radio broadcasts.

Of course, the Globe Life Field broadcast areas were thoroughly sanitized, and the Rangers will continue to do temperature checks, mandatory mask-wearing and enhanced sanitation and cleaning protocols.
