Texas Becomes First State to Support President Donald Trump’s Travel Ban
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed documents with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday in support of President Donald Trump's travel ban.
The documents filed in San Francisco ask the court to reconsider the decision not to immediately reinstate the ban according to FOX News.
So far, Texas is the only state involved that has sided with the administration. According to the Houston Chronicle, Paxton believes the President has the discretion to protect the safety of the American people:
"The law makes it very clear that the president has discretion to protect the safety of the American people and our nation's institutions with respect to who can come into this country," Paxton said in a statement.
The 9th Circuit will eventually decide on whether or not a larger panel of judges should reconsider the case.
