Lubbock police made an arrest in the attempted kidnapping that occurred Tuesday at a 7-Eleven convenience store in the 2600 block of Parkway Drive.

Ricky James Overhulser (53) has been booked into the Lubbock County Jail on charges of Attempting to Compel Prostitution.

According to a news release from the Lubbock Police Department, the suspect pulled up next to a 14-year-old girl while she was pumping gas and her mother was paying inside.

Overhulser reportedly told the girl to get in his car. When the victim refused, the suspect repeated a second time to get in the car. The victim refused again. Overhulser then asked the girl if she was dating, to which she nodded "no" before going inside the store to get her mother.

Moments later, Overhulser returned, fanning cash while the mother finished fueling up the car and reportedly asked: "How much for your daughter?"

Overhulser was in police custody Wednesday night on unrelated charges when enough information was gathered to name him a suspect.
