According to Fortune Magazine, Sprouts Farmers Market chain of grocery stores may be purchased by grocer giant Albertsons. As you may know, Albertsons acquired the United Family of stores (United, Market Street and Amigos) in 2013.

I frequently drop in to the Lubbock location of Sprouts because it's right next to the radio station and always has good produce deals. For my larger, weekly shopping trips, Market Street is no doubt my no. 1 for incomparable service and a lovely store environment.

Of course, there's always cause for concern when stores become less competitive. Could they decide to close Sprouts here in Lubbock? That would be a bummer, but my hope is that they keep it open and give it the freedom to operate as it has - which is, from what I can tell, what happened to United Family Stores.

United is still what it's always been: A customer service & experience-driven chain with fantastic pre-made food options (like La Cocina at Amigos, Henry D's at United and the options at Market Street).

If anything, being acquired by Albertsons only gave United more cash-flow to be what it always has been, but better. The recent remodels have provided an easier, more attractive shopping experience. I hope the same happens for Sprouts, because I'll be seriously upset if they change their chicken salad recipe.
