Shooting Victim Identified as Burglary Suspect in Levelland
A man who was found with a gunshot wound in Levelland on Wednesday, February 17th has been identified as a burglary suspect.
Hockley County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 6800 block of East Highway 114 to reports of a shooting.
When deputies arrived, they located a man, later identified as 39-year-old Joshua Dominguez, with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was transported to a Lubbock hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
However, as deputies continued their investigation, they determined that Dominguez was the suspect in a burglary at that residence.
It's reported that Dominguez entered the residence with a knife and made threats towards the residents. The homeowners claimed they were ordered to the ground, and Dominguez demanded a gun. When he obtained the firearm, he fired multiple shots inside the home.
One of the residents in the home retrieved another handgun and shot Dominguez once.
The Hockley County Sheriff's Office has said that the names of the victims in this case have not been publicly revealed given the circumstances surrounding this case. Whether or not Dominguez had any specific relationship to the people inside the home has yet to be revealed publicly as well.
Once Dominguez was released from the hospital, he was placed under arrested for Burglary Habitation Intend Other Felony and was transported to the Hockley County Detention Center.
This case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be added at a later date.
