In Hobbs, New Mexico, multiple people were shot and killed by a teenager on Sunday, August 25th. The Hobbs Police Department says they were first called at around 12:48 a.m. for shots fired in the 1700 block of East Bond Street.

More than seven people were found at the scene. 18-year-old Khalil Carter, 24-year-old Kristal Avena, and 22-year-old Lamar Lee Kane Jr. were found dead at the scene. Both Carter and Avena were Hobbs natives, while Kane Jr. was from Washington D.C.

Four others were injured in the shooting: 21-year-old Michael Major of Florida, 20-year-old Turon Windham from Chicago, 23-year-old Rontrell Hills of Louisiana and 20-year-old Jasmine Stansell of Amarillo.

They were all initially taken to the Lea Regional Medical Center but it's reported that Major has been released from the hospital and Windham, Rontrell, and Stansell have been transferred to Lubbock-area hospitals.

The main suspect in the shooting was later identified on Sunday as 19-year-old Bishop Henderson of Hobbs. He was arrested and booked into the Hobbs City Jail and could face multiple charges as the investigation continues.
