There are at least 2 repair projects that will affect traffic on Loop 289 in Lubbock. First, road work will begin on the overpass at South Loop 289 and Quaker Avenue on Wednesday, Nov. 18.

The Texas Department of Transportation says work crews will start making repairs to the center concrete barrier on the overpass. Both east and westbound shoulder lanes will be closed to traffic as well as one mainlane on both sides.

The repairs and closures for this project are expected to last 2 days, with the lanes to be fully reopened by the afternoon of Friday, Nov. 20th.

For repair project #2, the Texas Department of Transportation plans to close down the East Loop 289 turnaround that connects to Spur 331 on Thursday, Nov. 19.

According to a press release from TxDOT, the project is part of a larger $13.8 million dollar project and work crews will be working to repair a line of guardrails.

The East Loop 289 turnaround to Spur 331 will be closed until work in completed Friday, Nov. 20. During the closure, traffic will be detoured to U.S. 84 and then to Spur 331.
