Saints Thump Panthers, 28-10, To Take NFC South Lead
Mark Ingram ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns, and the New Orleans Saints dominated the Carolina Panthers, 28-10, in Charlotte, N.C. on Thursday night.With the victory, the Saints (4-4) moved into first place in the NFC South and snapped a seven-game road losing streak that dated to last season.
The first half was a turnover fest with each team committing two miscues, but New Orleans crossed the goal line twice for a 14-0 halftime lead.
Carolina (3-5-1) moved within a touchdown when Cam Newton scored on a 10-yard run with 10:14 left in the third quarter, but the Panthers would get no closer. Newton completed a dismal 10 of 28 passes for 151 yards and an interception.
After committing two turnovers in the first half, Saints quarterback Drew Brees led his team to two 80-yard touchdown drives in the second half. He threw for 297 yards and a touchdown and lunged for another score on a fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line.
