A woman originally from Rio Grande City has accepted a plea agreement for possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.

The Drug Enforcement Administration office in Lubbock received a tip in November of 2018 from a DEA agent working on a case in the Rio Grande Valley that a package was being sent to Lubbock with 2 pounds of methamphetamine inside.

33-year-old Leanne Garza and Lazaro Eden Flores arrived at the Post Office at 411 Avenue L in Lubbock to pick up the package.

KAMC News reports that Garza was asked by a postal inspector to search the suspected package and she agreed. The inspector found 3 white crystal packages inside. Garza told the inspector that her boyfriend told her to pick the package up.

She and Flores drove away from the office but were arrested in a traffic stop.

If the plea deal by Garza is accepted by a judge, she will be sentenced to between 10 years and life in prison.
