I'll go ahead and get this out of the way right now. According to the National Weather Service, KAMC's Ron Roberts and other meteorologists, it's still too soon to completely say what will happen with the weather Saturday night (January 9th, 2021) and Sunday morning (January 10th, 2021).

Having given you the winter weather disclaimer above, it's possible the Lubbock area will see snow over the weekend.

The National Weather Service in Lubbock sent out a tweet Thursday saying that there's an increasing possibility that the Lubbock area will see a winter storm Saturday night into Sunday. There is still a lot of uncertainty in the exact track of the system.

For those traveling this weekend, according to Texas Storm Chasers on Twitter, it's possible that snow could impact Lubbock, Abilene, Dallas, Austin, Tyler, and all around. Again, it's too early to say 100 percent, but if you're like me, you like to plan early. Not everyone in and around those cities will get snow and as the National Weather Service stated, it depends on the track of the system.

As of right now, forecasts for Lubbock call for highs in the 30s. So, it will be cold. KFYO News will keep you updated on the potential for a winter storm as we get closer to the weekend. Remember, it's still early and no guarantee that Lubbock will see any snow.
