Parents of Girl in Viral Lubbock Daycare Video Want Legal Action
The parents of 3-year-old Amyra Wilson are dissatisfied with how the mistreatment of their daughter was handled by the My Little Playhouse Learning Center and are now considering legal action.
A video of an employee pulling on Amyra's hair while another adult laughed and recorded it surfaced on social media Thursday (January 17th), weeks after the event had taken place.
KAMC News spoke to LaQuitta Wilson, Amyra's mother, who said she found out about what happened to her daughter at the same time as the public.
"She was physically abused by an adult and someone that we paid to place for her safety. They had no apology. They had no reason. They did not call me. Like I said, everything hit the fan and it's like they just had nothing to say," said Mrs. Wilson.
Martreal Walker, Amyra's father, said "we want any legal action that can happen, any legal action that happened to her, like jail time."
The girl's grandmother, Shanna Walker, had this to say: "Make sure that the people that are working there has no criminal background because if they'll do it to a child, they'll do it to the elderly. So we just want to make sure this never happens to another child."
Everything Lubbock reports that My Little Playhouse Learning Center had 19 violations since 2016 logged with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. These violations ranged from deficiencies in areas free from hazards to reaching their documented annual training.
Since the video went viral, My Little Playhouse Learning Center on 50th Street. After the video went viral, the daycare center issued a statement that the staff involved with the incident were fired, and that Texas Department of Childcare Licensing was also notified.
