The San Francisco Giants beat the Detroit tigers 8-3 to take 1-0 lead in the World Series.

Giants Third Baseman Pablo Sandoval became the fourth player in history to hit three home runs in a World Series.  Second Baseman Marco Scutaro went 2-for-4 with two RBI's and two runs scored.  Pitcher Barry Zito took the win for the Giants after allowing one run and six hits in five and two thirds innings.

The Tigers scored off of Third Baseman Miguel Cabrera's RBI single in the sixth inning and Shortstop Jhonny Peralta's two run homer in the ninth.  Pitcher Justin Verlander took the loss after giving up five runs, six hits and two Pablo Sandoval home runs.

There is no rest for the weary as the teams do it again tonight in Game 2 of the World Series.  On the mound for the Tigers is Doug Fister, he has a record of 10-10 with a 3.45 ERA.  The Giants will have Madison Bumgarner on the mound, he has a record of 16-11 with a 3.37 ERA.  First pitch is at 7:07 PM, Game 3 will be in Detroit on Saturday.
