Lubbock Woman Pleads Guilty for Murdering a 4-Year-Old Girl
A Lubbock woman has pleaded guilty to murdering a 4-year-old girl.
Twenty-one-year-old Yvonne Gonzales (pictured above) will be sentenced in June after entering her guilty plea Thursday (May 17) to one count of murder.
Gonzales was caring for her boyfriend's 4-year-old daughter, Alyrah Sanchez, in November 2015 at a residence in the 700 block of East Quinn Street.
KAMC News reports Sanchez was originally taken to the hospital when she stopped breaking after choking on food. But while treating the young girl, doctors found bruises on the girl’s face, and one of her arms was broken in two places.
The injuries were ruled suspicious at the time. Lubbock Police Department detectives began an investigation, leading to Gonzales' arrest.
