Lubbock Police on Tuesday night released a name and photo of a suspect involved in at least one crime.

Leo Contreras is wanted on an outstanding warrant of Evading Arrest in a Vehicle.

Tuesday afternoon, just before 2:30pm, Texas Anti-Gang Center agents attempted to pull over a vehicle being driven by Contreras near 52nd Street and Avenue G. Contreras fled the attempted traffic stop in his vehicle, forcing law enforcement to chase him.

The pursuit ended when Contreras crashed his vehicle in the 400 block of 38th Street. He was able to flee the scene of the crash.

Lubbock Police note that after the accident, is when they obtained the warrant for Evading Arrest in a Vehicle.

Hours later, just before 7pm, LPD attempted to serve the warrant at a residence in the 500 block of 53rd Street, but no one was there.

On Tuesday, Contreras was also named a person of interest in connection with a shooting that took taken place Sunday night. Police on Sunday were called out to the 2800 block of North Quaker Avenue after a 'shots fired' call. No arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of that call, but three homes were damaged by gunshots.

Then on Monday, police were called out to a different address for a welfare check, where they found 69 year-old Willard Justice, Jr. dead from a shooting they presume took place on Sunday night.

Any information concerning Contreras' whereabouts can be called into Crime Line at (806) 741-1000. Information leading to an arrest will be eligible for a reward. Crime Line callers can remain anonymous.
